Psalm 22:9 – 10
“Yet You are He Who took me out of the womb; You
made me hope and trust when I
was on my mother’s breast. I was cast upon You from my
very birth; from my mother’s womb You have been my God.”
I love how
God is intimately our Mama. I remember once long ago how someone outright
attacked me because I shared this reality online. While many may only be able
to see God as their Papa, God is so much more than just this. He is amazing!
He is El Shaddai, this characteristic of
Yahweh is used 8 times throughout the scriptures, most notably in Genesis 17. When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the
Lord appeared to him and said, I am El Shaddai; walk and live habitually before
Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete). El Shaddai means the
All Sufficient One, the One who is all sufficient for our every need. The
Jewish rabbi’s and commentators on the scriptures indicate that El Shaddai is
in fact the most feminine part of Yahweh. It literally reveals the picture of a
mother who gives life-giving milk from her bosom. Pause and think about it for
a minute. Where do babies get life from? What sustains them? Mother’s
life-giving milk. So too, our God is the only source of True Lasting Life and
this Life comes from the deepest place within His Heart which beats within the
chest or breast. We listened to an interesting talk a few years ago about the
heart. Scientific research has revealed that when the heart beats it makes a
regular sound echoed out as – sha-da-da,
sha-da-da.... The heart then literally calls out Shaddai.... God be my all sufficient....
David speaks over and over again about Yahweh as a compassionate caring mother, just look at the Psalm posted above and those posted below.

Psalm 139: 13 – 17
“You did form my
inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb. I
will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and
for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner
self knows right well. My
frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately
and curiously wrought [as if
embroidered with various colours] in the depths of the earth [a region of
darkness and mystery].Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your
book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when
as yet there was none of them. How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the
sum of them!”
Psalm 131” 1 -2
O Yahweh,
my heart is not conceited.
My eyes do not look down on others.
I am not involved in things too big or too difficult for me.
Instead, I have kept my soul calm and quiet.
My soul is content as a weaned child is content in its mother’s arms.

Instead, I have kept my soul calm and quiet.
My soul is content as a weaned child is content in its mother’s arms.
Let’s go deeper still and look at Romans 8. When I
was struggling with fear in my life, Father Yahweh kept on speaking Romans 8
over me. What He showed me was incredibly beautiful and it changed my life – literally.
Romans 8:15
“For you did not
receive a spirit of bondage again to fear
but you have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry out “Abba Father!”
but you have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry out “Abba Father!”
I dactate in the scriptures, in other words I take
the Greek words back to the Hebrew. So the Hebrew word here for adoption is the
word “amootz” the root word of this word is “im” which means mother, womb or
place of origin. So in other words we did not receive the spirit of fear
because rather we received the blessing of God’s place of origin, literally we
have gone back in to His womb and have born reborn. The Hebrew word for womb is
“racham” which means mercy, love, compassion, this word occurs over 47 times in
the Bible! A womb in Hebrew thought is a place of deepest mercy and compassion.
Does this not describe the Love of our King for us? Through the sacrifice of Yeshua, His Blood literally took us back
through time and space and located us as a seed within His body at the cross
and connected us with the generations of God to bring us forth as a new
creation with a new bloodline (Rona Spiropoulous – The Blood). In other
words, God has a womb for all of us, it’s within Him and it’s the place of
deepest compassion, which some would call Mother’s Love and nurture. Yahweh is
God, He is above and beyond all we can imagine but I love knowing Him as both
my mom and my dad because I need both, especially in the times of darkness and
trial. In times of pain I need to be able to have tender arms of Love and
strong arms of Power. Yahweh is the best momma and the best poppa and on His
lap “I am humbled and quietened in Your presence, like a contented child that
rests on its mother’s lap. I am your resting child and my soul is content in
You!” (Psalm 131, Passion Translation)

I love studying the different names of God. Praise El Shaddai!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read what you said about the Hebrew meaning for womb, I can't help thinking about how tragic abortion is! The womb is supposed to be a safe place of mercy, love, and compassion yet some babies are just waiting there to be slaughtered because their mothers choose to not let them live.
Shalom my sister, you are so right! When I was studying the womb, I learned that it is the place where our self esteem, our ability to trust and perceive our acceptedness in this world - is formed. The womb is our first interaction and yet as you say, some millions its in fact a place of slaughter or death, much like the gas chambers in the holocaust. Its tragically sad!! I pray that this tragedy will one day end!!
